I finally had some time to sit down at the computer so I thought I'd send any of you who are interested the website so you can look at our wedding photos.
They're all posted on our shutterfly page at the following link
Anyway, everything was lovely at the wedding, we had a great time on our honeymoon, and so far we've lived happily ever after...though we still haven't had any luck finding a house. We've got our eyes on a couple of them now though so I'll definitely update you all once we have anything definite to tell about.
Today I got to work to find my classroom decorated with wedding things and I saw that one of the teachers had written "Wedding Bells" and "Jenn loves Rafael" on my board in huge letters. It was so cute, but that was only the beginning. At lunch there was a surprise wedding shower. I had gifts from everyone and some delicious cake. It was wonderful! I got several things from my registry list, lots of other cute things, and some gift cards. Looks like I have to go buy some thank you notes, but for now I'm going to continue basking in the glory of the bountiful spoils I have brought into the house from my trunk...and then try to find somewhere to store them.
In other news, I may be firing my mortgage guy soon and going with someone else who knows what they're doing. My attorney is just as ticked off as I am, it seems, and he gave me a suggestion of someone to talk to about it. That guy said either he could take over my loan paperwork or this other woman from his company who specializes in the kind of loan I'm trying to get could work on it for me. He said she's been specializing in the loan I'm looking for for the past 15 years and has closed on hundreds of houses. I'm hoping and trusting that something will finally happen!
My favors came in the mail today! Yay! It turned out so cute. I'm so excited to put them in the cute little bags we bought, attach the tags, and get ready to put them out at all the seats at the reception. I can't wait for the wedding! I have been wanting to get married for so long and now I'm really starting to get excited about the actual wedding day. As more plans get made and some of the stress dies down, I'm really starting to look forward to it. So exciting!
Ok, so I decided on my menu for the reception. Mmmm it sounds so yummy! There will be a couple lovely appetizers along with drinks followed by the guests' choice of chicken parmesan or eggplant parmesan, rosemary roast baby potatoes, greenbeans almondine in dill sauce, a salad with the caterer's homemade dressing and homemade croutons [along with artichoke hearts, red onion, 2 kinds of cheese, and 3 kinds of lettuce], and then the best wedding cake my mom has ever tasted [she said so herself].
And for those of you who appreciate this kind of thing, wine with dinner and then 3 more hours of open bar.
I just ordered my invitations so the samples should be coming soon. Then I need to order the favors and confirm my dates for the honeymoon. So exciting!!!!
Anyway, now I'm going back to reality...grocery shopping. Oh joy. Talk to you all later.
So...I know I haven't posted in forever, but I figured an update was due. I read everyone else's updates all the time so I may as well fill you in on what's been keeping me so busy. It's spring break now so I finally have had a chance to relax.
As you probably already know, I'm getting married this August on Friday the 14th. Here's the status on all my preparations: Wedding ceremony - to be held in the Spink Pavilion at the Missouri Botanical Gardens Ceremony music - provided by the Landolfi Quartet - listen to sound bites on their website at landolfiquartet.com Photographer - GNH Photography who you can see at gnhphotography.com Reception - The Sheldon Concert Hall in their ballroom, look for pictures on their website sheldonconcerthall.org Reception music - Downtime Band - listen to sound bites on www.downtimeband.com/audio Catering - still undecided though we're tasting food from two places this week, one this afternoon and one on Saturday, and I have one other to consider Cake - Ordered yesterday from Wedding Wonderland - you can look at some of their cakes on weddingwonderlandcakes.com Dress - Bought from David's bridal. I'm not going to post a picture or a link because Rafael reads this blog, but I'll email you the link and/or a picture of me in it if you request one Wedding colors - Peridot dresses for the bridesmaids and lilac/lavendar colored flowers Shoes - I got these on sale at the Aldo outlet in Chicago - they're lovely and match the dress perfectly! Hat - yes...I'm wearing a hat instead of tiara, veil, or other attire more typical of today's brides...I've decided to be old school in my elegance. I don't have a link to that but if you request a pic of me in my dress you'll also see the hat.
I think that's about all I've planned out so far. That's most of the big things taken care of, other than food, which hopefully I'll be able to decide this week before it's time to head back to Chicago. It's hard to plan a wedding from 300 miles away.
Anyway, I need to get ready now because we're going to go tour the Sheldon and then try out the food at Catering Your Way by Lisa, which is supposedly pretty good. We shall see.
